Unlike what most people would do, Kira's mother decided to unconventionally give her daughter two names, both after fierce fighters from the past. Kiren was one of the first female waterbenders of the Southern Water Tribe, she was the daughter of a very prominent chief and was known for her beauty, elegant battle style, and intelligence. And Illea was a protectress and healer. During those days, most believed that Illea could heal anything, and defeat all unjust souls that crossed her path.
These women are part of epic waterbending tales, ones that children listen to while growing up; when Kira's mother decided on a name for her firstborn, she pictured a daughter of legend, of great talent. Therefore, the name Kiren Illea was given.

Occupation:
Due to the rigorous level of training Kira experiences under Master Tamma, she has no time to find an official occupation. During days off, however, Kira likes to help teach children how to waterbend, assuming they were born with the ability.

Waterbending seems to come naturally for Kira. She discovered her bending ability at the age of three. During her earlier formative years, Reika, Kira's mother, taught her daughter both healing and battle techniques. These came in handy during war sieges caused by Raja's soldiers. By the age of thirteen, Kira managed to hold her own against three soldiers at one time, impressing even the senior benders of the tribe.

Sakoshi Hito (Father)

The Hito family is a very prestigious firebending family. Most, if not all, members of the clan have reached a certain degree of mastery when it comes to the element. Because of this, they are renown throughout the entirety of the Fire Nation, and parts of Republic City. The fame has-- sadly-- diluted the mindset of the family as a whole, causing them to split themselves into castes and only allowing firebender intermarriage. They deeply desire that the bloodline remain 'pure', free of all other elements except fire.
Sakoshi's father, Darui, was the head of the clan, the Prime Father, a position decided by a very fatal Agni Kai. He was a very strict, rigid man, and decided the fate of everyone he could get his hands on. He believed in order, family purity, discipline, and weeding out the weak. Under Dauri's 'care', the Hitos became a microcosm of a dictatorship. No love; only honor, just anger, and pride-- Sakoshi, with his whole being, hated the atmosphere his father caused.
As the Prime Son, much was expected of Sakoshi. He had several to please, several agendas, and several burdens to carry with him. His childhood was taken away by training, and so was most of his teenage life. Along with that, Sakoshi was tutored in arithmetic, language, and the different arts. Other clan members his age were of the lower cusp, the non-immediate side; he had no one to confide to, and felt alone in his fake significance.
