| Republic City, the capital of the United Republic of Nations, is a large metropolis located on the shores of Yue Bay. It is located in the northwestern Earth Kingdom near the Mo Ce Sea. A colony of the Fire Nation during the Hundred Year War, the city was founded by Fire Lord Zuko and Avatar Aang after the conflict's conclusion as a settlement housing citizens from all four nations. Being a modern urban center, Republic City hosts significant high-rise development and widespread use of automobiles, motorcycles, and airships. They have since advanced to harnessing electricity provided by Firebenders to use for power, light and other daily necessities.

| | Central City Station is the city's main hub of transportation, though in recent years, it has been less utilized due to the advent of the Satomobile. However, it remains a busy commercial area. At the entrance of Central City Station is a statue in the honor of Fire Lord Zuko.

| | The City Hall is a center for governance in Republic City, and is also a venue for public press conferences and gatherings, with a large square before its front doors. While the public building has an entrance typical of traditional architecture from the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation, its distinctive features, a large dome and four corner towers, is certainly a new style developed after the Hundred Year War. Meetings of the City Council are held here. The Council consists of a representative from each nation as well as one non-benders.

| | The police headquarters, often referred to simply as "Headquarters", is the base of operations for the metalbending police, and is where criminals that were apprehended by the police are bookied and jailed. The architecture of the police headquarters is comparable to that of standard Earth Kingdom buildings, with both the exterior and the interior being largely geometrical in design. In front of the headquarters stands a statue of Toph Beifong.

| | Kuang's Cuisine is a restaurant in downtown Republic City. They have a strict dress code for citizens who go there. It is located on the corner of two blocks where cable cars pass.

| | Typical of other public construction achievements in Republic City, the city park is also on a large scale. Located in the city center peninsula, the city park is landscaped, with small hills, deciduous trees shading impeccably kept grass, and fine stone arch bridges.

| | Yue Bay, named after princess Yue, is a tranquil place. It surrounds the city and, at night, is known for its beautiful reflections of city lights. It is said that, when the moon is full, you can sometimes see Princess Yue's reflection in the water, smiling up at the city.

| | | Located in Yue Bay, Air Temple Island is the home of many Air Nomads. The temple was originally built by Avatar Aang himself. Comprised of several structures, including a large tower, several smaller buildings with blue roofs, and an open practice area, the Air Temple Island is home to the Air Acolytes, who are monks who now reside by the city to help with matters but still retain their ways.

| | | Aang Memorial Island is a small island off the coast of Yue Bay, located nearby Air Temple Island. It features a massive sculpture of Avatar Aang created by the Fire Nation some years after the end of the Hundred Year War for display in the bay of Republic City, where it would stand as a symbol of peace and goodwill. It depicts an older Aang clad in traditional Air Nomad attire, with the accompanying necklace he wore when Fire Lord Zuko announced the War's end at his coronation.

| | Pro-bending is the most popular sport in Republic City, and official pro-bending matches are held in the city's Pro-bending Arena. As a testament to the sport's popularity, this building has a golden appearance and is lit at night, making it a prominent city landmark. The arena is spacious enough to hold the pro-bending ring on which the contestants compete, a large pool of water far below the ring, and great numbers of spectators. The arena is one of the jewels in Republic City, and people from all over the world come to visit and watch the world's greatest benders compete.

| | The Dragon Flats borough is one of Republic City's housing areas. It's a rather run down area and full of mostly middle to lower class people. The apartments are on top of small shops and family owned restaurants.

| The bridge the stretches across the section of Yue Bay that extends into the city is called Bay Bridge. It's filled with, often stopped, cars almost all day and is a mighty structure. On either side there is a path that one can walk on that is sectioned off from the road.

| The Powerplant provides all of Republic City with electricity. Using the lightning from Fire Benders, the plant harnesses that energy to power the city. Many able firebenders work in the powerplant.

| The Northern Air Temple is located on a tall mountain. With cliffs and snow threatening anyone who tries to climb the mountain, it is almost completely protected. It was destroyed in the 100 year war, but has since been rebuilt.

| The Southern Air Temple is the largest, and currently the most populated, of all the remaining air temples. It is tall and consists of three tall buildings, all sitting on the peak of a tall mountain. The climate is warm, and at the base of the mountains is the warm, South Ocean.

| | Ba Sing Se is the titanic capital of the Earth Kingdom, encompassing nearly all of the northeast corner of the kingdom. It was the last great Earth Kingdom stronghold after the fall of Omashu. The city is by far the largest city in any of the four nations. Ba Sing Se means "impenetrable city", the city is so named for its two world-famous walls, the gates of which have no hinges or other hardware and are opened by use of earthbending.

| | The Serpent's Pass is a narrow strip of land between two large lakes, that links the Southern and Northern halves of the Earth Kingdom. It is one of the very few direct paths to the capital, Ba Sing Se. It is named after the serpent which guards the point where the East and West lakes meet. At this point the Serpent's pass for a short distance disappears under the lakes. All of this makes the pass feared in the Earth Kingdom. Most travelers refuse to use the pass and instead cross the lake by boat.

| | Makapu Village is a small farming town located in the northwestern Earth Kingdom on the slopes of the active volcano, Mt. Makapu. Volcanic eruptions have caused the soil around the volcano to become rich in minerals, making it perfect for farming.

| | Chin Village is a small town located on the cliffs of the Earth Kingdom's southwestern coast. It is named for Chin The Great, a warlord and conqueror who nearly conquered the Earth Kingdom. It plays host to the unique "Avatar Day" festival, a celebration that used to be a celebration in hate of the Avatar but is now held in honor of the Avatar.

| | Kyoshi Island is a small island off the southern coast of the Earth Kingdom, dotted with many small villages. It is famous as the birthplace of Avatar Kyoshi. The island is the home of the elite Kyoshi Warriors.The island was created when Chin the Conqueror threatened it. Avatar Kyoshi separated Kyoshi Peninsula from the Earth Kingdom mainland to keep her people safe from future threats.

| Also known simply as The Swamp, this vast, mysterious wetland covers a very large area of the southwest Earth Kingdom and is home to the Foggy Swamp Tribe, who are descended from emigrants from the Southern Water Tribe. The swamp has an extensive array of flora and fauna. The swamp is a series of roots connected by one central tree.
