Jau Seri: (18) Jau is Mai's older brother. He took over the fatherly role in the family after the Seri children were orphaned, but tended to expect too much of Mai. He was always criticizing her and treated her like the family's mother. Mai didn't ever want that responsibility on her shoulders and grew farther and farther apart from Jau. Jau is short tempered, like his sister, and overprotective of his family, like his sister. His light brown hair and dark brown eyes make him look like an earth bender, but also like Mai, he firebends aggressively, but tends to use more passion than control, which might be his only difference from Mai.
Cori&Zirushi Seri: (7) The twins are both little brothers to Mai and Jau. They were only 3 when they were orphaned, and though they don't remember their parents very well, they became insperable once they were left in the care of Jau and Mai. Mai never really cared for her little brothers because they were always overly laid back, and they didn't possess the bending gene. Saki and Feizon, the Seri children's mother and father, we're always disappointed in the little twins and had never seemed excited about raising non-benders. This bothered Jau, but he never expressed his emotions in front of his parents. He spent most of his time with the baby twins, or with Mai.

Mai was born two years after her brother to parents Saki and Feizon. Saki and Feizon were never very understanding of their children, which led to little contact between them, ever. Jau grew up faster than Mai did, personality wise, and by the time he was 6, he was already the one looking after his sister. The two siblings discovered they could firebend that year. That was the year Mai changed. She had been bubbly and relaxed until she learned she had something to prove to others; when she decided she was competing against her brother for her right to belong in the family.
Jau and the Seri family's mother, Saki, we're always the perfect firebenders. They were passionate and impulsive and strong. Mai tried too hard. She was controlled and fierce, but lacking the true traits needed to be a successful firebender. Both Jau and Saki say this, and to keep Saki happy, Jau would distract her. Mai was always jealous of her brother's attention and skill, and never saw what was happening between them. She was blinded by jealousy, and it caused her to distance herself from the family. Feizon was hardly ever home, constantly being reminded that he was a nonbender, and the tension built between everyone. Jau was often pushed to limits because of it. He was the young boy stuck in the middle of everything.
When the twins were born several years later, Mai was not only jealous, but angry with Jau. He stopped focusing on keeping Mai safe and worried more about the nonbender babies. Everyone expected Saki and Feizon to feel at peace when the abrupt balance came over the family, but Feizon only became sullen and Saki constantly voiced her disappointment. Three years of awkward dinners passed, with Mai opening up to Jau more often, before the accident occurred. The ironic fire in the car that killed both of the Seri parents.
Mai ran away a lot during the year that followed, finding it difficult to cope with being an orphan, but finally wound up home for good when she saw what everything was doing to her brothers. When Mai settled down again, she discovered what had become of her family. The twins wre four years old and could walk, but Jau looked sick and weak. He had taken over the role of father in the family and wanted Mai to pretend to be the twins mother. Mai wasn't a fan of children, and still isn't, because of how hard it was to help her brother raise the siblings. She grew tired of responsibility quickly, though, and repeated her old habits of running away and returning at random times. It was harder on Jau after getting used to the idea of his sister sticking around then it had been before.
Three years later, current time, Mai hadn't given up her old habits, but when she returned, she always made sure to speak with her big brother first. They had better communication than ever before, and when Mai left, Jau felt less lonely. The twins were already 7 year olds, and capable of taking care of themselves, which made things easier for Jau, but it was obvious he was turning into his father. He acted strangely and kept secrets that he wasn't even willing to tell Mai. I course Mai knew, because Mai knew of almost everything that went on, but she preferred to blackmail her brother with the information than try and help him. That was what life on the run had taught her was best. Mai had never been raised right, and she was developing her firebending abilities at 16. She was on the same level as a 13 year old and the slow progress only gave her more of a reason to be angry.
Physical Appearance:
Mai's hair is a dark blond, which often sets her aside from other firebenders. It's always styled, and if you mess up her hair, she'll cut you. This is why it's always so perfect looking. Mai is a prissy girl, so of course she takes great pride in her looks. Her hair is always worn down, never up, and more often than not, it's curled. Naturally, Mai's hair is very straight, but that look can get boring fast. Her hair is somewhat long, and goes past her chest when not curled.
Mai's eyes are bright gray, sometimes appearing blue or green in different light. They're closer to the color silver than they are to gray, because they shine brightly when hit by light, or when Mai firebends. It's one of her weirdest traits. When she's firebending, her eyes tend to glow. No one is sure why, including Mai, but she is fond of the bright color, so she's never gone to anyone except Jau about it. The shape of her eyes is rather Q shaped. She has big, round eyes that extend slightly at the corners. Usually this shape is extenuated by heavy mascara, eyeshadow, and and eyebrow pencil. Her eyebrows are one tone darker than her hair and create a crescent around the top of her eyes.
Mai is a very tan girl, because she has so much connection with the sun, and looks rather fake. She stands at a slightly tall height of 5'6" and weighs a mere 116 pounds. Her body is very elongated, which gives her a look of elegance and grace, even when she's not trying, but that does mean that her arms are longer than most girls her height, and Mai hates that. She doesn't appear out of proportion, because her torso is stretched as well, but her long limbs are pretty much the only physical aspect of the firebender that she doesn't try to flaunt. Mai prides herself in having a pretty surface, because she's aware of how her insides could use a little work.
Mai's style is surprisingly normal for a girl firebender. Her entire closet consists of either her loose-fitting red shawls and pants, which extend to her knee, or her tighter, more formal clothing. Mai wears her shoulder spikes only with the tight clothing, because she isn't a fan of her social status, but this only sets her apart even more. Mai's shoes are closer to socks with padded bottoms than actual shoes, because the firebender relies on her ability to be gracefully nimble. When dressed in her shawls and puffy pants, Mai looks smaller than she actually is, because her baggy clothing is mostly just hand-me-downs from her deceased mother. Mai is poorer than she'd like people to know, and her clothes really aren't anything special.
Personality:
Mai has never exactly been a likable person. She was always referred to behind her back as a "B". The firebender is feisty and viewed by most people as extremely one sided. She's sees things the way she wants to see them, and has fun at other's expense. Mai was never one to put others first, but ever since her parents died she was overly critical of others. She's had a low tolerance of people in her way for a while now. Though Mai's good at hiding most of her emotions and showing people what she wants them to see, the firebender has trouble hiding her annoyance with others. It takes a very different type of person to get on Mai's good side.
The girl has always been very rebellious in decision making. Mai never wanted to please everyone and she had a sweet tooth for causing trouble. Drama was drawn to her like moths to light, and Mai loved it. She's the jealous type, so attention was also something the bender strived for. Lately, with her tendency to run away from her troubles, Mai has been less attention seeking, but more shut off and distant when with anyone who tries to get close to Mai. For the most part, people try and get close to Mai because they assume she is easy.
Mai has good looks, and this leads people to assume that since she is also blunt, she is your typical Queen Bee. While it's true Mai always likes to be in control, she certainly doesn't give herself away and isn't very trusting. When Mai attended school regularly, she was betrayed by a lot of people. Jau always tried to be her big brother, but even then Mai didn't like her brother very much. She saw only the side of him that wanted to ruin Mai. Since the firebender girl surrounded herself with only what she wanted around her, she didn't let Jau protect her. She has always felt like she could defend herself by lying, and she learned from old friends how to turn on people for her own benefit.
There are plenty of bad things about Mai, but there are also some positive traits. She is a very independent person, and speaks her mind openly, even if she knows it will get her in trouble. Mai also hardly gives up until she gets her way. Even when firebending, Mai continues to try. In a selfish sort of way, you could call this determination. Lastly, Mai is supportive and genuine with people close to her. There aren't many people who can work their way into Mai's heart, but if they do, they'll usually find a safe home. Only do people who intimidate Mai have anything to worry about. If you pose a threat, you're sure to see Miss Seri's cunning side. She'll do anything to take you down.

Mai likes the idea of a rebellious relationship, and whenever she runs away from home, she tends to end up in the territory of other nations, which is especially risky at this time of pressing battles.

Commander Harrako: (40) Harrako Brenning is Ren's father, but ever since he announced his siding with Raja's army, Ren hasn't been in contact with the man. Harrako betrayed the Brenning's old town by feeding Raja information from town council meetings and brought dishonor to the entire zbrenning bloodline. He left to go live in the enemy army headquarters with Ren's mother, but Ren stayed behind. He openly despises his father for become a high ranking officer with Raja!'s army, but the earthbender secretly wishes for his dad to come back.
Kyeomi Brenning: (37) Kyeomi was always well liked by the Brenning's hometown, and known for being as sweet as her son. For this reason, most of the town was surprised to hear she would be joining her traitor of a husband in Raja's headquarters. Harrako was a nice man, though, deserving of Kyeomi, and the two weren't willing to leave each other. Kyeomi still prays today that Ren will be forgiving, but she isn't sure he will be. Ren never talks about his family, but misses his mother just as he misses his father.
Occupation:
Oddly enough, the earthbender makes money by fishing for Rui's father, a fellow poor man who is thought of differently. This is the only job people are willing to offer Ren because of his family status, but the boy tries not to mind. He's able to eat, and he was able to earthbend himself a hut just outside the town he works,

Ren's hair is an earthy shade of brown. On certain days, Ren's hair looks lighter or darker than it really is, much like dirt. He has natural black highlights on the thin bottom layer of the earthbender's thick but clean mop. Ren's hair occasionally grows long and has a natural swoop across his forehead, but for the most part,vor at least most recently, the bou's hair has remained cut and styled nicely. (or so it appears--because of what used to be consider average for Ren.) Ren isn't used to looking nice, because he's a poor boy, but he's been trying to give others a different impression of him. This is the main reason for Ren's shaggy but tidy hair style.
Ren's eyes are light blue, like ice, but look green in the darkness. They are his most striking and prominent feature, and you're not going to easily forget seeing them. The boy's eyes are large, especially for a boy, but are also lengthy, like a teardrop. He has pretty eyes, but don't convey much emotion, which makes them look cold for the most part. When Ren smiles, his entire face lights up, including his eyes, but when he's not smiling, good luck trying to see more than a pool of blue or a field of lush green.
Ren's skin is tan, like most earthbender's, and his lean muscles become more and more visible as his days on the pier pass. Ren has a martial artist build, standing at a near 6'0" height of exactly 5'10". Ren is no stranger to feeling starved, as he used to weigh just 130 lbs at his height, but recently he has gained a few pounds, in both muscle and meat, and now weighs closer to 150 lbs, which is borderline average. Ren's shoulders are broad, but he's a very lean boy, and as an assistant fisherman and earthbender, Ren isn't expected to be bulky. He stays reasonably fit and healthy, and as long as you can't see Ren's ribs, he's comfortable with his appearance.

Ren owns a Fire Ferret named Yip, whose parents belonged to Ren's own parents. The rest of Yip's family either died or weaseled away, so Ren considered himself lucky to be left with Yip, who is a slightly carefree but feisty little pet.
