Traits



Appearance

Kusu is a lanky build for an earth bender but is still pretty solid physically. He stands about 6'2 with thick arms and legs and a solid back. He has large feet and hands and keeps in the sun where he tans slightly. He's face is sharp and angled. His nose is crooked from a fight he was in at school. He also has dark greenish brown eyes and russet colored hair. He likes to let stubble grow out but won't let it get thick.


Personality

He can be a little snipey and quick to judge, something his parents had programmed into his head at an early age. He doesn't however liked to be judged harshly and won't judge someone else to harshly. He can be soft spoken though and won't be the first to tell you his thoughts because he wasn't always accepted so he doesn't really think his thoughts are always that important, standing up for someone else though he will do in a moment if he likes them. Not really the bravest person but he is caring and understanding once he can open up to you.
Something people tend to adore about him is how air headed he can be, in fact he may just act a bit spacey just to lighten the mood but if it is necessary will be serious. He doesn't really like large groups of people or things because of he feels like he is being restricted and finds it uncomfortable to bend. Basically just was never exposed to it until his travels.

Past



History

Living with his parents he felt like he should also hate bending, but never could. He felt wrong hating something he didn't know, and living where he did he never met a bender, he didn't know what they where even like. On his tenth birthday he was out in the forest where he was playing around and he noticed that some movements would cause the earth around him to move. So he tried more and more until it hit him he was bending the earth. At first he couldn't grasp what was so bad about it until he realized he was hardly doing anything and a master would be capable of much much more. He didn't tell his parents for awhile.
By the time Kusu was 16 he was a skilled earth bender, not nearly a master, he needed more then what he could just work out in his head, but he had found he could to powerful things. His parents still didn't know and continued to rage and discrimate against benders. It was when he turned 17 that he found out it was more then just being rude, they were completely hateful towards them.

Flashback
It was a cold December, normally the climate would be warmer but there village was northwest and could get bad weather. Kusu was sitting outside in the cold skinning an animal, it wasn't something he enjoyed, hunting, but it was what you had to do to survive. He could hear coughing and see an child his age walking through the village, the boy stopped at their home and knocked on the door. Before Kusu could go around front his mother answered the door.
"Who're you, why are you out here in the cold?" She allowed the boy inside. Kusu went inside to see about the boy himself and started to talk to the boy, Piao, as they talked he found out Piao was heading to the Fire Nation to visit, said it was becoming a better and better place to live old traditions were dying out and new cultures where taking place. However Lin and Jun had run out of fuel for the fireplace which would cause them trouble in such a winter, when Piao stood up "I'll help." . He lit the last of the logs on fire for the family. Jun angered by allowing a fire bender into they're home kicked out the boy and put out the fire going to the neighbors for help. Kusu ran outside to meet the boy has he strode off.
" Piao, wait I'm sorry about my parents. I hate them they are cruel people I'm sorry for them." Piao stopped and looked at the boy and placed a hand on his shoulder. "it's ok, some people are still like that even though it's been so long." Kusu sighed and stepped back. "I'm an earth bender, they don't know they would treat me the same even if I'm their son." Piao looked up at Kusu with a glint in his eyes. "I'll wait in the forest one day, meet me and we will travel to the fire nation together." He knew Kusu would be his friend, and he knew he needed to get away
End Flash Back

Kusu did meet Piao and they traveled all the way to the Northern point of the Fire Nation. Becoming close friends and stopping in many towns and many cities discovering more things and improving their skills it was two years before they made it. All he left for his parents was a note, telling them he was old enough to move on, in fact he should of done it long ago. Nothing else.

Now that Raja is attacking he feels he should take up his friends offer to stay with him in Republic city, however Kusu doesn't want to go yet due to the time he spent trying to get to the Firenation so now he travels training and learning and helping damaged citys as much as he can for now.



Born and Raised

Kusu was born into a family of nonbenders. His parents still felt as if bending was a horrible thing and moved to a village that didn't have many benders. His mother Lin's father was killed in an accident and Lin blamed his bending for it so she never told her husband she carried an earth bending jean in her blood. Jun, Kusu's father, was from a long line of nonbenders and just didn't like them.



The Here and Now


Job?

He cares for and trains animals in the Fire Nation and sometimes Earth Kingdom, though now he has to roam and avoids Raja to help anybody he can. Or he tries.



Pets?

An Armadillo Wolf named Keko he found half dead on his jorney with Piao

•Filed down teeth. They are creepy and look painful. Can't stand them.

Traits



Appearance

Alder is only 19 and still is rather young looking because he keeps his face shaven clean. He is average build and still growing into his build. He lived a healthy life and gets plenty of food to grow but is so busy that he doesn't always get as much as he needs and is rather thin and has a lanky appearance to go with it. His hair is dark brown that is sort of fluffy. With his baby face and wide eyes he isn't taken seriously by elders. He has a soft curved nose and full lips that doesn't give him a serious look. He just wants to grow up more so he isn't as teen looking but is quickly growing now nearly reaching 6'1.


Personality

He is a teenage male that likes to be treated like an adult. He doesn't get that he isn't grown yet and it makes him angry. He doesn't like feeling left out or under appeared. Stubborn and rash he doesn't care for rules and is determined to do what ever he feels like needs to be done. Alder does like to poke fun at people and well follow through on his plans. He likes to come up with plans just to see if they work out. He is prideful and thinks he is capable to do anything he wants. He is loyal to family and friends but is quick to find loop holes. He's got a good heart, he's just lost it over time.

Past



History

Alder lived in Republic City so he didn't really have to worry about fighting or anything, and since his family left him out of many things he just became a trouble maker. During the day he would scout around the city looking for things he could work with, that night he'd sneak out, steal a loaf of bread drop it off with some street kids. Playing pranks on people. Maybe set traps for creatures just to see if he could catch them. When he turned twelve though he found something he really enjoyed, Katana. They were swords that he felt very much skill with so he joined a class and started spending his days there.
He was 15 when he started to become bitter towards his bending family. In fact he didn't mind the bending, only that it was a glue for his family and he just wasn't included. He tried not to show it but eventually it became obvious he was spiteful towards them. His family didn't like the behavior and instead of trying to help cut him off from things seeing as he might offend someone or start problems.
He was 17 when he first heard of trouble. His father was working later hours, his brother had moved to gather information outside the city. He told his father to let him join, at first he was told when he got older, but later was told that he couldn't do it because he couldn't help out as much. He realized his parents looked down on him because he lacked the ability. Alder moved out and started working in a restaurant and training with swords and daggers more often and vigorously. He still likes to cause trouble around though.



Born and Raised

Alder had a good life. Born in Republic city his mother was a teacher and his father worked in the military which was mostly inactive trainings until Raja. His parents were both fire benders and so was his older brother so when he was younger he never learned fire bending he was distressed for a while. His parents where passionate and rather important people in the community, his brother was top of his training classes when he was 7 in fire bending. Alder, well, his parents weren't exactly excited and tried to shelter him. In there minds they felt like a non bender was at danger and couldn't handle themselves as well so when Alder wanted to start training to be a warrior his father made sure it wasn't going to happen.
